Step 7: Searching Homes

There are many-many homes out there but only some that meet your needs & requirements. The idea is to get the best possible home that meets your criteria. Approach with the following steps:

Get-Set...Go!

Start your search by viewing some handful of homes in different price ranges just to get a feel for what is available out there. Based upon this initial feedback you may decide to alter some of the Requirement Analysis you had done.

View houses on your home computer:  If you have a computer and access to Internet/World Wide Web then you will be able to visually see houses in the area you are interested in before you go and visit them. Pictures along with description is a great tool that may save you a lot of traveling time. By checking out the local Multiple Listing Service your real estate agent will be able to get you a list with pictures of homes in your price range and in the areas that you would like to live in.

View Houses on your Real Estate Agent's office Computer:  Agents should have access to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) & Internet/World Wide Web. You can therefore view the houses on his/her computer before you decide to visit them.

Visit Homes: There is no substitute for physically visiting and viewing the properties. Go to only those homes that basically meet your Requirement Analysis. Make a list of all the homes you visit.  Take notes.

Analyze each House:  Analyze each house that you visit and match it against your Requirement Analysis that was prepared in step 1. A detailed description with example is shown in Homes Visited: Details & Analysis about each.
